This combination of a WS477 3-way wall switch module and a CS277 remote switch allows you to replace an existing 3-way switch system (two light switches, typically at the ends of a hallway or stairway) with an X-10-compatible setup.
Also note that you can use the WS477 as a normal single-point switch by simply capping off the red wire with a wire nut, as shown in official X-10 documentation. The back of the switches state that they are limited to 500 watts and are to be used with incandescent lights only. Note that these are white, not ivory, in color.
